Ways Technology will Impact Security in 2024

This coming year is projected to have some major changes in the world of physical security. This past year has seen AI and robotics catch the attention of security professionals due to advancements in technology along with more convenient means of surveillance. The result of all this will most likely be a closer collaboration between security teams and IT departments.

Physical security teams are beginning to realize just how much actionable data is available from analytics and IT departments. IT keeps track of user and access data that can greatly improve the base of knowledge and strategies for physical security teams. Not only are IT departments resources for security, but so are marketing teams. Marketing is responsible for researching target audiences, understanding how many people and of what demographics may be attending an event and have their finger on the pulse of what the community is talking about via social media. Security teams can collaborate with these groups to not only have a better understanding of who is coming and going to client locations, but also have access to real-time information about these individuals and any potential threats that may arise.

Ways Technology will Impact Security in 2024

It is believed that 2024 will see a significant rise in investments into access control technology and its innovations.

According to Genetec, a tech provider in the security industry, there will be a rise in the attempt to modernize these forms of security technology based on recent innovations in biometrics and AI that can all work together seamlessly in cloud-based systems now. The merging of surveillance and access control systems will greatly increase output and reduce costs as multiple processes are condensed into one workspace. We are partnered with Rekor to utilize their roadway intelligence engine to collect actionable data that allows us to remotely monitor areas at risk. We are also partnered with LiveView Technologies to distribute and maintain their mobile surveillance units while also utilizing the comprehensive monitoring system that is user-friendly and highly customizable.

It is believed that 2024 will see a significant rise in investments into access control technology and its innovations.

With the use of cloud-based systems that can combine monitoring and data collection into one workspace,

…the ability for physical security teams to monitor spaces more effectively will be so much easier and cost effective. The days of using separate systems to monitor access control, video surveillance, and AI identity detection are soon to be gone. Innovations in security are constant and effective at ensuring not only a comprehensive means of protecting people, places and assets but also the ability for this to be taught to any guard. Soon we will not need to have expensive and specialized training for complicated systems and instead be able to train new and veteran security officers quickly and efficiently on how to adapt to more user-friendly tools.
