During this difficult year, many organizations across Tennessee have stepped up and adapted their programs in innovative ways to continue providing services to survivors throughout COVID-19 lockdown and prolonged economic downturn. The Coalition will honor the following organizations and their leaders for their contributions in reducing domestic and sexual violence in our communities:

  • The YWCA and its President and CEO, Sharon K. Roberson, will receive the “Making a Difference Community Service Award” for their leadership, passion and commitment to ending violence and for the YWCA’s innovative and intersectional anti-racism work.
  • Metro’s Office of Family Safety and its Director, Diane Lance, will be honored with the “Community Collaboration Award” for their significant contributions in reducing domestic and sexual violence in their community through leadership, action, and community collaboration.

“We are so grateful for the work and amazing contributions of these leaders and organizations,” Walsh said. “Even if we have to do it online rather than in person, we want to celebrate their contributions. Recognizing excellence is a powerful way to inspire all of us to remain strong and focused for the journey ahead.”

The Gala will feature musical performances from India Ramey and Two Story Road. Brenda Tracy, an activist and survivor, will be the keynote speaker. All process raised from the virtual gala go to support survivors or rape, abuse, trafficking and assault in. Tennessee.
