Securing the Race: Solaren’s Role in Providing Safety for the USA Today Hot Chocolate Run

The Hot Chocolate Run first began in 2008 in Chicago and is now hosted in 16 major cities across the country. This past Sunday, February 23rd, the race took place in Nashville, and Solaren Risk Management was proud to provide security services for this exciting event.

Our role in securing the event included perimeter security, ID checks to prevent underage drinking, and continuous monitoring of entry points and the event footprint.

We ensured that only authorized participants and staff were granted access while patrolling the area to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Security is crucial for public events like this, as they are designed to be easily accessible. However, private or ticketed events utilizing public spaces require controlled access, making constant surveillance of all entry points essential.

Proper security measures not only ensure the safety of everyone involved but also enhance the overall experience of the event.

Smooth operations and a threat-free environment allow staff to focus on their responsibilities, while participants can fully enjoy the event without concerns. Major events always present security challenges, including site assessments, emergency planning, and coordination with medical and law enforcement services when needed. At Solaren, we take on the responsibility of guiding our clients toward safer operations and best practices when hosting events in public locations.
