There is Pride in Tennessee!

Saturday, June 24th through Sunday, June 25th was Nashville’s anticipated Pride Fest. The extreme heat failed to deter supporters and festgoers from showing up and showing out. There were thousands who attended both days to experience performances from artists such as FLETCHER and Fitz and the Tantrums. Alongside great music was great food and drinks from vendors lining the walkways of the Bicentennial Mall in front of the State Capitol Building. The grounds also included multiple youth areas and a few stages where people could watch different entertainment such as drag shows or musical performances.

Solaren was excited to support this event as we are an LGBT-owned business and would not only be doing our duty supporting vendors and performers, but our own CEO Jack Byrd III as well. Solaren Risk Management was recently named as a Certified LGBT Business Enterprise through the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce. This distinction being gifted in tandem with Pride in Nashville is truly a highlight of the company’s year. Solaren showed up in full force for this event with over 150 staff members for the full weekend event. Solaren staff manned all entry and exit points to Bicentennial Mall in order to ensure the safety of patrons inside the footprint and prevent protestors and any banned or restricted items from finding a way inside.

The patrons of the event were focused on having a safe and fun time

The patrons of the event were focused on having a safe and fun time at the event, resulting in very few incidents. Due to the extreme heat index, there were a few medical emergencies and Vanderbilt medics responded in a fast and caring manner. Despite the intense weather, the LGBTQ community really showed up to support all the vendors, performers and prominent figures who made an appearance. First Lady Jill Biden appeared to speak about the solidarity of the community and remind those of the LGBTQ community that they are loved and never alone in their struggles. The mayor of Nashville, John Cooper, along with state representatives who outwardly and proudly support the community appeared for the parade on Saturday as this entire weekend was meant to be full of joy and support for everyone who fought to be who they are.

“We are thankful to support and be a part of a community that also supports us! Thank you to all who helped staff the event and participated even just as a patron. We are already looking forward to next year!” – Jack Byrd III
